Happy Fall!
It is now November and we are wrapping up our Social Studies unit on Native Americans. Students worked very hard on their diaromas. Please check back soon as I will post pictures of the students' hard work. They were fantastic! The last event for our Native American unit is the Native American in-school field trip. This will be held on Wednesday, November 10th.
In Math we are wrapping up the Unit on Eplasped Time and moving on to Subtraction Combinations. We will be learning strategies to subtract numbers.
Thanks for reading our monthly class blog. We'll see you again next month! :0)

Hi Parents!

We are now in the month of October! We have wrapped up our Science unit on plants and living things! We had so much fun learning about bean seeds and the best environment to grow plants. We are now studying the Native Americans in Social Studies! We will have a Native American Day in early November! This will be an event you won't want to miss! More information on this is coming soon.
In Math we are working on Number Sense: Addition and Subtraction. Did you know that there's more than one way to add 123+34? We are learning different strategies to add and subtract using mental Math! We are so excited!
Thanks parents for all your support! Until next time....

We have completed 2 weeks of school already! Tuesday marked the 11th day of school! We are learning so much! We are learning how to read, write, and represent 4,5, and 6-digit numbers. We are learning that numbers can be written in different forms: standard, expanded, and word form. We are also learning how to name numbers in different ways. For example: Did you know that the number 1,200 can be named one thousand two hundred, or twelve hundred?
In Science we are studying what bean seeds need to grow taller. We are conducting an experiment to find out the best way to grow beans. No water and sunlight? Little water and sunlight? or much water and no sunlight? We will find out as we observe our plants for the next two weeks!
Thanks Parents for taking the time to find out what's going on under the Big Top!
Until next time...

First Day of School
Today was a terrific first day! We collected and organized all of our school supplies. We labeled all of our journals, discussed rituals, routines, and discussed school expectations. We did some really fun "Getting to Know You" activities as well. We ended the day by taking a Math placement test to see how much we know.
Parents I'd like to thank you for all the extra supplies you've sent in. It is greatly appreciated!
Until the next blog...
